Bernie Sanders Takes Down Every Single GOP Presidential Candidate

In a masterful take down, Sen. Bernie Sanders took apart the 2012 GOP presidential field and called them the fringe of American society.

On HBO’s Real Time, host Bill Maher asked about a question about the Republican primary and Sen. Sanders went off,

One of the problems that I see in the Republican primaries is that these guys are so out of touch with the reality that the American people are going through that it is really quite amazing. We are seeing a middle class collapsing. We are seeing poverty increasing. We’re seeing a nation in which the rich are getting richer and we have the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country.

Do they have one word to say about this issue?

We have 50 million people without any health insurance. We are the only country, major country on earth that does not guarantee healthcare to every man, woman, and child as a right. Do you know what their solution is? Cut Medicare.  Cut Medicaid. You got Social Security, the most successful government program in the history of our country. A program which has not resulted in one penny of deficit for this country, and you know what they want to do? They want to cut Medicaid. They want to cut Social Security. They want to privatize these important programs.

These guys are way, way out of touch from where the American people are, and I think when you look at them issue by issue — tax breaks for the rich, cut Social Security, more money on defense spending — they are literally a fringe element in American society.

Last but not least, you’ve got virtually every scientist in this world who studies the issue who tells us global warming is a huge, huge problem. We’ve got to move in a very aggressive way to break our dependence on fossil fuel, move to sustainable energy, energy efficiency. These guys don’t even acknowledge the reality of global warming.

Yesterday we did a historic thing. We generated 87,834 phone calls to U.S. Representatives in a concerted effort to protect the Internet. Extraordinary. There’s no doubt that we’ve been heard.

So just to keep you updated: The well-intentioned, but immensely flawed “Stop Online Piracy Act” is still in the House Judiciary Committee. The hearing was yesterday and now members will debate and bring amendments to the bill. The Committee will reconvene in a few weeks — the date has yet to be scheduled. Nothing has been brought to a final vote. Everything is still very much in play. We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on and what you can do to help. But for now, we want to thank you.

One encouraging thing we heard yesterday:

I don’t believe this bill has any chance on the House floor. I think it’s way too extreme, it infringes on too many areas that our leadership will know is simply too dangerous to do in its current form.

    — Representative Darrell Issa

We also want to express our tremendous gratitude to our friends at Mobile Commons who, on 30 minutes notice, hooked us up with their amazing platform (and provided their expertise) to automatically connect callers with their Representatives.

This is how shit gets done.

(NEWSER) – It’s already stamped on our coins, but a group of lawmakers would like see our national motto get even greater play. The House will vote on a bill today that would strengthen the phrase “In God We Trust” and push schools and other government and public buildings to display the motto. The measure states that the phrase has been an “integral” part of the country; approving it would show that “In God We Trust” is “not only written in the halls of our federal buildings, but it is a bedrock upon which our nation is built,” said bill sponsor Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) in March.

The measure has 64 co-sponsors, including a few Democrats, but Politico reports that not everyone is on board. In one committee report, five House Democrats complain that the legislation “creates unnecessary and excessive government entanglement with religion. … The passage of this resolution would, as Justice [Sandra Day] O’Connor warned, send a message to the American people that our government favors religion, and specifically one type of religion over another, in violation of the endorsement test.” It will need a two-thirds vote to pass.

    Lovely.

    Jeezuschrist.

BECAUSE THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN FIXING OUR ECONOMY AND DOING, YOU KNOW, ACTUAL WORK.

Church. State. Separate. For real. Remember that? Because Republicans sure don’t.

  5. Taken for granite? Michele Bachmann’s NH campaign staff quit.

    philosophiste:

“The manner in which some in the national team conducted themselves towards Team-NH was rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and at times cruel. But more concerning was how abrasive, discourteous, and dismissive some within the national team were towards many New Hampshire citizens.”

    - from the letter of resignation sent to the press this past Sunday by the entire Michelle Bachmann New Hampshire campaign staff

The beauty of the New Hampshire Primary being the first in the nation is it allows candidates with a ton of money and with no money to play on a relatively similar playing field. If you’re a small time candidate and get serious attention and votes it can springboard you onto bigger and better things. On the other hand, if you’re a doucher like Bachmann and some people in her team it can backfire and then you have this sort of thing.

TrendsMap Proves Scary Twitter Censorship Of #OccupyWallStreet From Trending Topics

A Trends map of trending twitter hashtags shows #OccupyWallStreet tweets surging in nations around the entire world, except in the United States, while Google Trends shows a corporate media blackout.

JP Morgan has invested $400 million dollars into twitter and in return [See image above].

Yet when the Freedom of Information Act Request is submitted to explain this, we will find the Feds ordered it to be censored due to national security, hence covering up Wall Street bankers commanding twitter to censor the hashtag.

Then, shortly after this article received a lot of attention, it comes back on the world map but still not allowed to be shown on the right hand side of trends.
